Year End Awards and Banquet
The year end banquet will be held on November 10th.  More information on time and location to follow.  We are now accepting nominations for our year end awards until Oct 28.  The awards are: Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Young Referee of the year, the Howard Hughes award and new for this year Goalkeeper of the year.

Please email nominations to president@patriotsoccerclub.org and kackmeisters@gmail.com  explaining why you are nominating the said person with some information that we could use if we select that person for an award.

Below is the award criteria:

Year End Awards

Volunteer of the Year:

Criteria:
  • Adheres to the Zero Tolerance Policy 
  • Is in good standing with the Club 
  • Praises and encourages all players and coaches at all times 
  • Has had an impact through leadership and/or creative innovation on team and with parents 
  • Provided assistance to coaches and team 
  • Planned out and led in the exe cution of events that led to opportunities to have fun and make memories: Pictures, snacks, provided transportation, field cleanup etc... 
  • Candidate must have an outstanding record of participation during regular season and during Crossroads Challenge 
  • Inspired other parents to volunteer and become active members of PSC 
Process:
  • Nominated by any player, coach, team administrator, board member, parent or other person involved with the Patriot Soccer Club 
  • Strong recommendations by the Volunteer Coordinator 
  • Final decision made by the Executive Committee 

Coach of the Year:

Criteria:
  • Adheres by the Coaches Code of Ethics and Zero Tolerance Policy 
  • Is in good standing with the Club 
  • Demonstrates values consistent with goals of the Patriot Soccer Club 
  • Has demonstrated a strong desire to gain and share knowledge 
  • Demonstrates commitment, strong work ethic and a sense of pride 
  • Has a positive and ongoing relationship with athletes and other coaches 
  • Uses positive reinforcement and patience to teach skills to emerging players 
  • Goes above and beyond in his role as a coach: Leadership role in the community, mentors others, etc..... 
  • Accomplished something other coaches took notice of 

Process:
  • Nominated by any player, coach, team administrator, board member, parent or other person involved with the PSC 
  • Strong recommendations by the Director of Coaching
  • Final decision made by the Executive Committee 

Young Referee of the Year:

Criteria:
  • Is in good stand ing with the Club 
  • Displays moral and ethical behavior 
  • Has taken steps to improve upon their referee knowledge of the game 
  • Participates in soccer outside his or her position as a referee (i.e. player, coach, volunteer) 
  • Created relationships within the community to promote the game 
  • Has taken steps to further advance the game and all who participate 
  • Was a member of the Patriot Soccer Club 
  • Uses positive reinforcement and patience to teach the rules of the game on and off the field 

Process:
  • Strong recommendation made by the Referee Assignor 
  • Final decision made by the Executive Committee 

Howard Hughes Award:

Criteria:
  • U14 player that has been with the club more than 2 years (U14 coaches should have input) 
  • Candidate must have an outstanding record of participation 
  • Demonstrate values consistent with goals of the Patriots Soccer Club and Players Code of Ethics 
  • Consistently demonstrated to his coaches and fellow teammates: 
    • Work ethic
    • Team work
    • Skills
    • Participation
    • Leadership
  • Candidate must have an outstanding record of participation 
  • A passion for the game of soccer 
  • Someone that puts team goals before personal goals 
  • A player who has constantly improved their skills and show an ever expanding knowledge of the game and its rules 
  • Someone who communicates a positive manner to teammates, officials and coaches 
  • A player who asks questions and makes suggestions 

Process:
  • Nominations may be made by any player, coach, team administrator, board member, parent or o ther person involved with the PSC. 
  • Strong recommendations by Howard Hughes 
  • Final decision by the Executive Committee 

Goal Keeper of the Year

Criteria:
  • U-12 Through U-14 Player
  • Consistently demonstrated to his coaches and fellow teammates: 
    • Work ethic
    • Team work
    • Skills
    • Participation
    • Leadership
  • Decision making ability on when to play over the top or out from the back
  • Communication with the back line 
  • Positive attitude in all aspects of the game

Process:
  • Nominations may be made by any player, coach, team administrator, board member, parent or other person involved with the PSC. 
  • Recommendation by the Coach
  • Strong recommendations by Howard Hughes 
  • Strong recommend ation by Director of Coaching
  • Final decision by the Executive Committee

The Crossroads Challenge was a great success.  Thanks to all the teams and players who participated and all the volunteers who helped out.
